A northern California based artist who has been actively engaged in painting and photography since 2008. He has an affinity for mark-making and analog based photographic processes. The subject of impermanence, catharsis, and the natural landscape continue to inspire his work. Traditionally his photographic work has functioned to provide metaphors for contemplation, and mirrors of experience. Of increasing importance is place, as well as his relationship with the foothills and environments of the Sacramento Valley that have helped develop his artistic identity and signature. Conveying place through his subject’s relationship with their immediate environment is a familiar device. Water, largely the river, has been a vehicle for transcendence and reflection in his photography. The repeated waves or unremitting river creates an environment that is both timeless and cleansing.
