Here is your first weekly update on SF/Bay area must-go-to art/culture events. These Events are Hella Dope and you'll most likely catch one of us at them, don't be shy, two out of the three of us are nice (just a joke).
So excited to start off our weekend with a Friday night show about punk culture California of the 70's and the 80's, Void California. Brontez Purnell is set to put on a multi-media performance that will take even the youngest of soles back. Be there by seven or you'll miss it, this will all take place at 360 Kansas St. between 16th and 17th at the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts. Hoping that some of the artists submitting to Wildflowers, Dope Dope Dope Mag Issue 1, will attend and get some inspiration.
After that 111 Minna is hosting the Lower Branch 6 Year Anniversary Free Blowout so if you wanna see some dope art and listen to some good chunes the event goes till 2am. I'm excited to see the home boys, local rap group Rec League.
Saturday Deth P. Sun is taking over Cat Town Cafe & Adoption Center in Oakland with a solo show, opening runs from 2pm-6pm. So, if you're a cat fan and you're not working Saturday come out and check out one of my favorite Bay Area artists at his solo show. If you can't make it, it's up until the beginning of April.
After that, Athen B. Gallery is hosting a group show called Hanging Gardens, featuring works by Andrea Heimer, Kate Klingbeil, Michael Olivo, and Woodrow White. If you haven't been to this space, you need to go and check this show out.
Let us know if you have an event coming up that needs some buzz and remember we are still accepting submissions for the Dope Dope Dope Mag issue 1, Wildflowers Hit us up for more info.
